This is a One on One Fiction Writing Guidance Program – which is customized to each student. (Yes, after your selection is confirmed, the course materials are created by us just for you, to advance your current proficiency level.
Since it is customized, it doesn’t matter where you are in your writing career. If you are an advanced writer, we will be taking it further to published writer. If you are a beginning writer, we will be taking it further to published writer as well.
Personlized Mentorship, instruction, discussion, support, lectures, feedback – and most importantly? A word by word, line by line edit of your writing – where we will discuss plot points with you, character arcs – everything, trust us. You will leave us with a finished piece – ready, and usually always a go for publication!
Yes, after you show initial interest – we discuss with you over a call to understand if this course is right for you, as well as if we can take your writing further. We do this to ensure the 5 participants per cycle policy – that we stand firmly by. At any given time only 5 students are mentored by an instructor – this allows us to focus on the individual’s voice.
We are always at a loss for words to explain the entire program. Why? Because it covers everything – hence the name: The A – Z Creative Writing Program. An important thing to note here is that while the course covers all of these subtopics: it is covered with respect to you! Yes, your writing will be discussed and worked upon with these subtopics – didn’t we mention it is customized and each individual’s course is designed only for them?
A total of 8 (1hr) classes are part of this module, however we recommend 5 classes of 1.5 hr each. The class can only be taken once a week, so you get time to complete assignments and work on your writing. The slots for each class open up every day, and you can chose yours at your own convenience!
There will be phone calls, and a constant back and forth as we discuss, refine, and work on your writing piece throughout the month.
The Writers published by, mentored by or involved with The Bombay Review are stalwarts in the creative writing and academic field! Have a look at some of them:
Did you know the fastest a participant has been published after this module (yes, the same piece that was mentored over two months with us) was within 48 hours. You won’t believe the payment they received: psst.
It is for everyone and anyone.
And, you join our community. Example: a couple of weeks after the course completion: you might receive an email to join us for an invite-only book launch on a Saturday night at Habitat Center Delhi or Taj Bandra or your friendly neighborhood indie bookstore. Or, say, how does a chat with your favorite author over coffee sound to you?

I would say I am an accidental writer, writing mostly as catharsis, but of late I have discovered the joy in writing and putting out my work, even if no one reads it. It feels good to have a part of my mind out there, if that makes sense to you. Being from a very middle class family, where studying is everything, and the creative being is a luxury that money matters belittle, I didn’t have the dream even to get an MFA, let alone know what it was.
But, of late, in my journey as a translator, I have found that nothing makes me as happy as writing, and while I can write, having some trained perspective really helps. The best thing about these classes, especially the one on character development, is not just the tips and tricks, which is the obvious takeaway in such classes, but more importantly, books that others have read, the myriad points of view and specifically the aha! moments that make me scribble furiously. I have really enjoyed their at times humorous, at times pragmatic editorial insight and hope to join more such classes in future. And it always helps that the classes are affordable!

I am writing this email to share my feedback about the masterclass conducted recently. I must say that it was an incredible experience for me. The entire session resonated with my own perception of storytelling quite well. The distinction between created and discovered characters was presented in a very effective manner, which really helped me understand the different types of characters and their importance in storytelling. The instructor was extremely knowledgeable and presented the content in a way that was easy to comprehend. The discussion on the different sources of characters was really insightful, and the ways of visualizing characters were explained in a clear and concise manner. The significance of drive and passion behind characters was also discussed in detail, which helped me better understand why it is important to create characters that are relatable and have a strong impact on the audience (or readers, but like audience more, for me).
Also, the conflicts and their presentations were discussed in a very engaging manner. Relating them to our everyday lives was a useful tactic since there is literally no point in writing like Emily Dickinson in this age and time. The instructor referenced a lot of sources that one can refer to for their own study, which was really helpful. Been great to get an insight into what people at the intermediate and advanced levels study and explore for crafting enduring characters. He was very engaging and kept the session interactive throughout. There were plenty of exercises suggested throughout the sessions that seemed to be truly helpful in getting into the zone of crafting strong characters.
