My sleepy face begins appearing

in the backs of crab shells on the Oresund coast,
shocked and distilled through the world.
Fibres of milk and blood and urine. I can see your body
smashed into a pattern that is completely new.

Art Allen is from Colombo, Sri Lanka currently studying for an MA at the University of Oxford. His poetry has appeared and is forthcoming in a number of national and international magazines including: The Irish Literary Review, The Amsterdam Quarterly, Wilderness House, The Oxonian Review, The Cadaverine, IS&T, Cake, Cactus Heart, Eyot and Elbow Room.
